May of 2011 marked nine years since I became the Executive Director of the Choral Society of Pensacola. Being part of this excellent organization has been a richly rewarding experience, and I am very proud of both the artistic and fiscal health currently enjoyed by the Choral Society.

   Under the direction of our superb Artistic Director, Mr. Xiaolun Chen, we continue to offer large-scale choral concerts at the highest level. When my many pre-concert tasks are completed on a performance night, I always relish the opportunity to listen to the finely crafted program we’ve prepared for our audience. I take great pride in the excellence displayed by our singers and instrumentalists as they create beautiful music.

  I am also very proud to report that the Choral Society continues to exhibit excellent financial health—no mean feat in an era when many cultural organizations are finding it difficult to stay afloat. As traditional sources of income have been reduced or have  disappeared altogether, the staff and Board of Directors of the Choral Society have had to be increasingly resourceful and energetic in our fundraising activities. I am proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish in these difficult times, but despite the success of these efforts, we still could not carry forward without you, our faithful patrons.

   It gives me great joy to look out into the audience at each concert and see so  many familiar faces, and a good many new ones, too! Thanks to all of you and coupled with a healthy measure of hard work, the Choral Society of Pensacola truly is in great shape for our 76th season. We are so happy to have you with us. We really couldn’t do it without you.
